Blood
Drives
Highlands-Cashiers
Hospital and the AnMed Blood Center hold annual blood drives for the
surrounding communities of Highlands, Cashiers and Glenville.
Seasonally, The AnMed Blood Mobile visits the hospital’s campus, local
banks and schools for community members to donate blood.
AnMed Blood Center, out of Anderson SC,
sponsors blood drives that are unique in that the individual blood
donations are given firstly to replenish HCH’s blood bank. After the
hospital’s blood bank supplies are maximized, the units are then sent
to other healthcare centers in immediate need.
Each unit of blood can serve the needs of up to four different
patients. Red cells are separated out and used to help accident
victims and those who need transfusions as a result of surgery.
Platelets are used to treat those undergoing chemotherapy and who
suffer from other types of cancer-like blood diseases. HCH encourages
all residents of the community to give the gift of life!
Summer Blood Drive
The bloodmobile will be at Highlands-Cashiers Hospital on Thursday, July 7th from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and at the Highland’s First Citizen Bank from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
