resident council meetings

each month, the residents hold a meeting to discuss recommendations to our facility and voice their concerns. everyone is encouraged to participate. all ideas and comments are reviewed, therefore, all our residents have a say in the issues that are of concern to them.

pet therapy

we believe that elders should have access to animal companionship who have the ability to provide loving care. the aviary and aquarium in the lobby are gathering spots for on-lookers. we also house 4 healthy cats and residents enjoy weekly visits from certified pet therapy dogs.

Services

Pharmaceutical

An on-site pharmacy provides all medication to our residents at FELC. This includes any and all prescriptions as well as over the counter medication. Our pharmacy maximizes the efficiency of our nursing staff's process of ordering and administering. In addition to two full time pharmacists, pharmacy technicians assist the department. Our pharmacy director reviews all resident charts on a monthly basis, following both state and federal regulations.

Rehabilitative

All of our rehabilitation services are on site, offering physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy as prescribed by an attending physician. We have full-time restorative aids that work with your loved ones to help them regain their mobility and function to the degree possible. Through the hospital we also have a respiratory therapist trained in heart and lung function.

Laboratory

Our 24-hour Laboratory staff offers a comprehensive array of on-site tests and services, approximately 95% of laboratory tests are performed on site. All test results are reported to both the Living Center Nurses and to the patient's primary care physician.

Radiology

Our 24-hour Radiology Department offers x-ray, MRI, CT scanning, Nuclear medicine scanning, and ultrasonography. A full-time radiologist is available to read films and report to the attending physician.

Treatment Nurse

We have a full-time certified wound care associate on staff. Our wound nurse works closely with each resident's physician, and makes monthly rounds with our medical director.

Podiatry

Podiatry services are provided by a doctor of podiatric care who visits the center quarterly, performing both nail and foot care to our residents. Payment for these services must be arranged through Medicare or Medicaid, or by private agreement.

Chaplain

The entire staff of the Living Center is dedicated to achieving and maintaining the optimal wellness of all our residents. Spiritual, as well as medical resources, are readily available. The hospital chaplain is an ordained minister, trained in pastoral care, and available to minister to center residents and their families. Local clergy also contribute to our chaplain services by being on call.

When requested, the chaplain will gladly visit with you and your family. The strength and nature of your beliefs will be honored and your privacy will be respected. The chaplain can be contacted by calling the Social Worker. Your requests will be handled confidentially and respectfully.

Mail

Residents are free to send and receive mail through our mail room. Mail delivery occurs six days a week. We also have a computer and Internet connection that is available to residents free of charge on a first-come, first serve basis.

Dining

Restaurant-style meals are served three times a day in our dining room, which includes linen tablecloths, napkins and menus. An assisted dining room is provided for residents that need one-on-one attention. Residents have access to a snack kitchen throughout the day and bedtime snacks are served each evening. Our registered dietitian plans meals that are both nutritious and appetizing. While most residents may have no dietary restrictions, specialized diets are also available.

Beauty Salon

Our beauty shop specializes in older clients. We provide services ranging from perms to color services, and manicures to pedicures.
